EADS NetCOS utilizes Kynapse to develop next generation simulation systems
Paris, France - November 28, 2005 - Kynogon announces today that Kynapse has been integrated into the innovative simulation technology developed by EADS Network Centric Operations Simulations (NetCOS).
"We have been using Kynapse for two years now. Kynapse brought us out-of-the-box solutions to complex realtime behavior simulation issues we were facing : 3D pathfinding, dynamic topology analysis, team coordination, automatic navigation and perception data generation, high performances to handle very large maps with very high number of units, etc." says Laurent Gallo, Head of NetCOS Applications. "Kynapse was also flexible enough to be integrated into our ambitious distributed architecture. It was implemented as an A.I. server able to communicate with several CGFs."
NetCOS enables the concept, development and experimentation of defence and network-centric operations, concepts and systems across the entire combat spectrum, from submarine deployment to satellite communications and surveillance. The NetCOS has started 3 years ago and is implemented in France, Germany and UK. It will deliver the latest simulation technology, to reproduce realistic military and crisis management scenarios controlled globally.
Pierre Pontevia, Kynogon CEO explains: "After the completion of this first step by the NetCOS, we now foresee what the future of military simulation is going to be: a large number of units evolving in urban 3D terrains with complex architectures that federate various technologies. EADS was very ambitious upfront and they are delivering cutting edge simulation systems."
About Kynogon
Kynogon develops and markets A.I. software for real-time behavior simulation. Kynogon's technology is used by industry leaders (EADS, British Aerospace, EDF, ...) as well as the world's leading game developers (Electronic Arts, Atari, Real Time Worlds, Lionhead, Majesco, Pyro Studios, ...) Kynogon is offering Kynapse, a unique A.I. engine. With Kynapse, Non Player Characters can move around in any 3D dynamic world, understand their environment, hide, communicate, cooperate, drive vehicles, etc. For more information please visit www.kynogon.com.
About EADS NetCOS
Fight against terrorism, peace keeping operations, homeland security are now the key missions of our forces. Armed forces must adapt rapidly their mission, their organisation, their processes, their resources and means under the pressure of threats evolution and leveraging innovation and breakthroughs in information and communication technologies. Transformation will move them from a concept of massive forces action to a more flexible, distributed, mobile, projected, interoperable and multinational doctrine concept. They will extensively leverage the new technologies of information and communication in the so called concept of Network Centric Warfare / Network Enabled Capabilities.
Industry is now more and more involved upfront and working in integrated teams with operational forces, from concept and process modelling up to the deployment and maintenance on the field. Our customers acquisition processes evolve, and we now must handle larger responsibilities and risks as "Large System Integrator". To support our customers and develop the new capabilities and competencies needed, EADS has settled the System Design Center.
In order to master the complexity and the risks linked to these new projects, our customers as well as ourselves simulate and experiment, to design, test and validate the new operational and technical concepts at each stage of the evolutionary development life cycle. Massive use of synthetic environments guarantees feasibility, flexibility and representativeness, helps to handle complexity and minimizes costs. The set up by EADS of NetCOS simulation environments is a major investment in that respect. The opening of the 3 centers in Unterschleissheim, Newport and in Vélizy is an essential step to position EADS on these new market segments. SDC is now working the next steps in close cooperation with LoBs and BUs : the further capitalisation of simulations, models and scenarios, the set up of equivalent centers in Spain and USA and the networking of the different premises to demonstrate realistic multinational environments.
